September 1st marks the kick-off of Milk Month, a partnership between Canpotex and the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre. Throughout Milk Month Canpotex matches public donations made to the Food Bank with funding targeted towards their Milk for Children Program.

The Food Bank’s Milk for Children Program provided 96,785 Litres of milk last year to children and pregnant and nursing women to help ensure they are receiving adequate nutrition during the critical periods of childhood development. Canpotex has committed to matching public donations to the Milk for Children Program throughout September, up to a total of $50,000.

“Canpotex is a proud partner of the Saskatoon Food Bank’s Milk for Children Program,” says Canpotex President and CEO, Gord McKenzie. “By delivering Canadian potash overseas, Canpotex plays an important role in helping to achieve global food security. We believe it is important we also do our part to address food security here at home, by supporting programs such as Milk for Children that work to alleviate child hunger in our community.”

This is the third consecutive year that Canpotex has partnered with the Food Bank on this program. “We all play a role in supporting healthy growth and development of children,” says Laurie O’Conner, Executive Director of the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre. “The COVID-19 pandemic has placed an even greater need on the Food Bank’s services. Canpotex’s support for Milk for Children is critical to ensuring we are able to offer this type of program in our community.”

To take part in Milk Month, simply donate to the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre throughout September by visiting saskatoonfoodbank.org and Canpotex will match every dollar donated, up to $50,000!
