Potash is a naturally occurring mineral deposit that was formed millions of years ago by the evaporation of seas. The majority of the world’s potash supply is found in Canada, with other deposits also found in Belarus, Brazil, Chile, China, Germany, Israel, Jordan, Laos, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States.
Saskatchewan has the world’s largest reserves of potash. Canpotex’s potash comes from 10 producing potash mines in Saskatchewan owned by Mosaic and Nutrien. Typically, Saskatchewan potash is found approximately 1,000 metres below the earth’s surface.
Canpotex has made significant investments in our supply chain, allowing us to efficiently ship potash from land-locked Saskatchewan to our customers in over 40 overseas countries who would otherwise not be able to access the product on an economical basis.
